#1 A Christmas Carol
K-2: Get to Know Your Ghost
Pretend your school has a ghost. What is his or her name? What does he/she look like? Draw the ghost and write his/her name under it.
3-5: Teaching Tenses
1.) Put three columns on your paper and label them "past," "present" and "future."
2.) Write 5 action verbs that you "do" during the holidays.

#2 Brown vs Board of Education
Grades K-2: Picture Perfect
Brown v. Board of Education was argued in front of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the United States. Have students draw a picture depicting a courtroom scene. After they complete their drawings, ask students to explain what is happening their pictures Grades 3-5: What if?
Brown v. Board of Education changed the face of public education. But what if the Court had ruled differently? Have students write a paragraph describing what schools today would be like if they were still legally segregated.

K-2: Your Pet Dinosaur
If you had a pet dinosaur, what would you name him? Draw your dinosaur pet and write his name under the picture. Bonus: Describe in 1-2 sentences a dinosaur game the two of you would play together
3-5: Fictional Fears
Even though they know it isn't a real dinosaur, the kids are still a little bit afraid. Are you afraid of anything that isn't real? Write down what "made up" thing scares you and list 3 reasons you should NOT be afraid.

Felix flew from outer space to earth in just a few minutes. Draw a picture as if you were above the earth looking down. What would it look like? How would you feel? 3-5 Dare-Devil Stunts
Felix flew high in the air for several hours, before jumping down to the earth. He has spent many years working towards this jump, with many other lower dives. Around the world, many men, just like Felix, prepare and plan for dare-devil stunts just like this one. Would you want to grow up to be a dare-devil? What type of stunts would you do?

The Cookie Monster sure loves his cookies. They are his favorite thing ever. What are some of your favorite things to share? Draw a picture of one of them.

The Cookie Monster is singing about sharing cookies. Can you think of a time that you wished someone would share something with you? What was it? Did you ask if they would share? How did the story turn out?

3-5: Compound Word Contest
Basketball is a compound word. How many other compound words can you think of? You have five minutes to write down as many compound words as possible
#8 The Fun Theory
K-2: Piano Stair Performance
Would you take the musical stairs? What song would you want to play? Draw a picture of you "performing" on the piano stairs.

Now it's your turn to try the fun theory. Choose a task that is typically boring and make it fun! Describe why your game or "angle" on the chore is more entertaining.
#9 Sportsmanship
K-2: Cheering on Kindness
Those nice players deserve congratulations for being such good sports. Draw a sign that shows how proud you are of their actions. Include adjectives that describe their good deed.
3-5: Are You a Good Sport?
Think of a time that you lost at a sport or contest. Desc ribe that experience and how you reacted. Did you demonstrate good sportsmanship?
