Final Tips

  1. HAVE A HOOK! They are looking for the story. Grantees want to make memories for your students with their money.
  2. Be realistic
  3. Work with a team-Their money will have an impact on more students-Make sure everyone works on the application- not just an applicant in name
  4. Don’t make it technology heavy
  5. Research who you ask for support What grants have been awarded in the past?
  6. Read the guidelines (and follow them)
  7. Check clarity with someone not in education 
  8. Use everyday language and avoid acronyms (CCSS, ELA, RtI)
  9. Don’t embarrass yourself- check grammar (we ARE teachers)
  10. Don'tgive up if you are rejected, submit the same project to different groups
